This contest is about the guys in our lives and the mountains they are facing; my oldest son just started high school this year, and we all know that's a mountain in itself. Slouch hats also happen to be his favorite style..so here we have the Freshman Slouch!
THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY BE COMPENSATED WHEN THEY ARE CLICKED. THEY ARE NOT SPAM.
The cool thing is, this slouch was designed so that the brim can be rolled up and the hat turned into a beanie!
This patterns calls for Boston Original Yarn, which is a #5 wool blend. You can get it on sale HERE. Other great alternatives would be Lion Brand Alpine Wool, Cascade Superwash 128, and Bernat Roving. You can also use Boston Style for a fun twist!

FINISHING
Fold in half

Sc
in the end of every row around. Leave a long tail and weave it in and out of
the scs. Turn beanie inside out and pull tail tight to close up hole. Hold the
opening like a bouquet and sew it closed by inserting needle into one side and
pulling it through to the opposite side; repeat this step several times working
from different insertion points to close up. Fasten off.
For
a slouch: roll the brim up one full rotation. For a Beanie: roll the brim up
two full rotations.
