This book has everything you could possibly need to know to make your own socks... or design them!
First let me say that I love everything about this book! Not just the great, all inclusive and easy to follow instructions, but it's also very pleasing to the eye... right down to the fonts (I know, sounds silly, but it's a thing for me! Ha!)

This book includes 18 sock patterns, using various toe and heel techniques plus fun stitches, some of the designs feature textured stitch work!

The first four chapters of this book give you so much information, you're nearly a sock pro before you pick up your hook!
In Chapter One, Rohn explains everything there is to know about measuring the foot, so you're getting the perfect custom fit (did you know there were seven places to measure?). He explains how fitted the finished piece must be, a standard sizing chart for making gifts when you can't measure the intended wearers foot, and best of all, he walks you through the entire process of measuring to make sure you're getting as accurate as possible! There's even a chart so you can jot down your own measurements!
In Chapter Two, Rohn explains how to choose the right yarn. He talks about fiber content, plies, how to read the yarn label, and even covers the washing & blocking process.
In Chapter Three, Rohn breaks down the anatomy of socks and sock construction. This chapter also talks about "making your socks pretty"; if you're anything like me, you love 'fun socks' (as I call them), so you'll definitely want to take note of the information here.
At the end of this chapter is a FAQs page; he answers the questions before you even have to ask!

Chapter Four is probably my favorite (it's the designer in me). This chapter fully details the construction of heels and toes. There are 'seven' heel types and four toe types, making the sock creating so versatile. You can make the socks in this book, or venture out with the information provided and making something truly personal!
The rest of the chapters are the socks patterns, using techniques you've learned in chapters one through four.
The following chapters are broken down, so you know just where to find the socks for your taste or skill level:
Chapter Five: Simple Socks
Chapter Six: Textured and Cabled Socks
Chapter Seven: Colorwork Sock
Chapter Eight: Lace Socks
I think all of these patterns are appropriate for the confident beginner. Even the patterns with more challenging stitch work are achievable, because the patterns are so well written!
This book is a must for every crocheter's library! It is so well thought out and well written; Rohn has truly covered everything you could possibly want to know about making crocheted socks!
I'm so excited about this book! I've just started making the "Gorman Street Toe-Up Socks" for myself!
