Native Sun Square



Looking for a fun new "granny" square pattern?

This 6" Native Sun Square, named for it's similarity to the Native American symbol for sun, would be great for so many projects: Beach bags, Ponchos, and especially afghans!

Worsted Weight Yarn

  • Color A
  • Color B
H Hook
Yarn Needle



Stitch guide

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

FPtrc = Front Post treble crochet

FPdc = Front post double crochet

ch = Chain


Instructions

With A,

1. Ch 4, join to form a ring

2. Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc x 3, ch 4, *dc x 4, ch 4* 3X, sl st to join in top of beg ch 3

3. Ch 3 (counts as dc), FPtrc x 2, dc, ch 5, sk ch-4, *dc, FPtrc x 2, dc, ch 5, sk ch-4* 3X, sl st to join in top of beg ch 3

With B,

4. Ch 3 (counts as dc), FPtrc x 2, dc, (trc x 3, ch 4, trc x 3) in ch-4 sp from rnd 2, *dc, FPtrc x 2, dc, (trc x 3, ch 4, trc x 3) in ch-4 sp* 3X, sl st to join in top of beg ch 3

With A,

5.     I have been looking through so many Granny Squares to use up my stash of excess yarns. I think I have just hit the JACKPOT. {;0).
    I've wanted something not too 'open', but not totally solid either. And this is 'IT' .
    I can now plan on sitting our in my yard in my new swing, and crocheting 'til my hearts content.
    Love this pattern, and thank you for sharing.
